I'd say that is the last thing you want to hear about book characters, especially ones meant to have any sort of impact on the reader. I had no idea about FGM and this book is an enlightenment towards it, great book with awesome insight of what FGM is and the hardship of womanhood.

Also, randomly and out of nowhere, there are two occurrences where she feels the room move, or shift, or something out of the ordinary but it never leads anywhere.I found myself feeling sympathetic to the plight of both of them and the dialogue between them is sharp and funny too.
